It is important for parents to advise their kids that such mishaps are to be expected. They should also guide their children to be understanding rather than angry or confrontational if a friend accidentally damages or misplaces a borrowed toy. This engaging story will help give parents the tools to start this important lesson with their children.

It is a tale of three friends who are on an afternoon outing at a neighborhood park.A young pup named Sandy has brought her cherished marble collection to the sandbox to play with her feline friends, Topaz and Pewter. The trio are laughing and enjoying their game until Pewter realizes he has misplaced one of his marbles.Sandy becomes very upset and proclaims that the lost marble is her favorite. As the three friends begin to search for the marble, Pewter proposes that they make an adventure of the hunt.Instead of approaching the search as a game, Sandy loses her temper and snaps at Pewter.

This in turn causes Pewter to become defensive and proclaim that he didnt lose the marble on purpose.Topaz quickly interrupts the argument and reasonably suggests that it may be impossible to locate the tiny, lost marble in the large sandbox. She advises that a compromise be reached instead. This suggestion inspires Pewter to volunteer to replace the lost marble with a new one. He assures Sandy that he will search to locate the most special marble he can find, and Topaz readily volunteers to assist in his hunt by conducting online research. The thoughtfulness and good intentions of her friends cause Sandy to reflect upon her angry outburst.

She interrupts her friends to assure them that buying her another marble isnt necessary. She also acknowledges that Pewter didnt intentionally lose the marble.Sandy even proposes a means of keeping better track of their marbles on future outings, and her anger is completely forgotten. She then apologizes to Pewter for losing her temper and becoming so upset. With a new appreciation for the understanding and consideration of her friends, Sandy jokes with her pals as they pick up their game.

The trio leave the park happily. In reality, such a positive outcome may be harder for children to achieve on their own. However, if parents read this story to their kids and rely upon its message to open a dialogue, their children will be better equipped to handle such a situation.By encouraging kids to be understanding and sympathetic rather than angry and confrontational, parents will provide them important tools to face adversity and mishaps. Not only will these tools serve their children well when playing with friends but throughout the course of their lives.Children ages 2 to 10 will be captivated by this book.
